about cascade
Cascade Outdoor Design is a boutique studio that creates outdoor environments defined by clarity, restraint, and timeless composition. Each project is approached as an extension of the home, carefully considered in relation to architecture, landscape, and the rhythms of daily life. Through a focus on spatial balance, material honesty, and precise detailing, the studio shapes outdoor spaces that feel both composed and deeply personal.
The studio specializes in modern residential landscape design, custom outdoor living environments, and thoughtfully integrated landscape architecture throughout Northeast Florida.
Founded and led by Mike Farnsworth, Cascade emerged from a desire to unify design vision with construction understanding under one practice. The studio reflects a hands-on approach where ideas are developed with an awareness of how they will be built, experienced, and lived in over time. Every project is guided from concept through execution with continuity and intent, ensuring the original design vision is preserved in its final form.
owner
Mike Farnsworth
With more than two decades of experience in landscape design and outdoor construction, Mike Farnsworth has led the design of custom pools, outdoor living environments, landscape lighting, and residential landscape transformations throughout Jacksonville and Northeast Florida. His design sensibility is shaped by a lasting appreciation for Mid-Century Modern principles, clarity of form, material restraint, and the relationship between structure and landscape.
His portfolio spans custom pools, outdoor kitchens, lighting environments, and full-site residential transformations, each defined by a balance of function, proportion, and atmosphere. Equally grounded in construction knowledge and design intent, Mike is known for a process that moves fluidly between concept and build, ensuring each detail is both intentional and executable.
At the center of his practice is a commitment to creating spaces with meaning, environments that extend beyond aesthetics to support connection, gathering, and a sense of place. This philosophy is carried through every project: a belief in contributing to something larger than the work itself.
